VALIDATION AND QUALITY
ASSURANCE
The ten partner universities established
a single Validation Panel to scrutinise the full programme and undertake
periodic reviews on their behalf. The members of the Panel included
senior academics and senior engineers from industry, including an overseas
representative. The Panel was chaired by Professor Kel Fidler from the
University of York.
The panel was convened for a two day
meeting on 29 and 30 September 1999 to examine the full programme following
which it made recommendations to enhance the programme and congratulated
the consortium upon the high quality of the programme and the excellence
of both teaching and research in the partner universities.
The consortium welcomed and implemented
all of the recommendations of the Validation Panel and the Panles' approval
came into effect as of 1 January 2000
The consortium of ten universities is
committed to the maintenance of high academic standards and has implemented
procedures (see Programme Regulations) in accordance with the charters,
statutes and regulations of the individual partner universities.
